  • 06.04.2024 - Tampa Police Department (One on Ones - 2); On May 30, 2024, at approximately 1738 hours, Tampa Police officers responded to a report of a male having some sort of episode, possible "excited delirium". Upon arrival, the male dove into a drainage ditch and swam about 6-8 feet inside the pipe. The male became unresponsive. The first officer went into the pipe and grabbed onto the male, while the second officer grabbed the ankles of the first officer. The second officer was able to drag them both out of the drain. • 05.16.2024 - Pasco County Emergency Communications (One on One - 1); Call taker took an open line 9-1-1 call where a train could be heard in the background and a female crying. the same call taker took a call from a juvenile threatening suicide by laying on train tracks, related to the initial 9-1-1 unverified based on the phone number. The juvenile initially refused to provide their name and just asked the call taker to tell her mom goodbye for her. The call taker could hear a train passing in the background. Call taker attempted to gather pertinent information to ensure a response was sent to the correct area. The call taker was upset at the lack of response by patrol units to the area that cleared the initial 9-1-1 unverified call that the call taker believed to be cause for response. The juvenile was subsequently located after the last call and baker acted. [#582]

The male then became physically combative by getting in the officer's face and then pushing him. The officer attempted to detain him and the male began to resist. The officer deployed his taser and the male fell to the ground. The male was able to fight through the taser's affect and tried to run into Hillsborough Ave. where he was struck in the head by a passing vehicle. The male succumbed to his injuries on scene. [#583]
