VI. AOC Report (Jane Siling) 

  • 08.08.2024 - Tampa Police Department (One on One - 1); Male with a warrant was spotted, additional officers responded. Male barricaded himself into an apartment and exchanged gunfire with officer. SWAT/Hostage Negotiators responded. Male was located later deceased of a self-inflicted gunshot. Dispatcher became overwhelmed while handling this call. [#585]
  • 08.08.2024 - Tampa Police Department (One on Ones - 7); A Detective was doing follow up on an on-going investigation. While in the parking lot, the Detective spotted the suspect who also had a warrant. The suspect approached the victims apartment and then multiple gunshots were heard. As other officers arrived on scene, they entered the apartment where the suspect fired two shots at the officers. One officer returned fire but the suspect barricaded himself in the rear bedroom. Eight subjects, mostly children were evacuated from the apartment. Emergency Response teams arrived. The suspect was later found deceased in the bedroom. No officers nor others were injured. [#586]
  • 08.16.2024 - Tampa Police Department (Debriefing - 7); The Debriefing was conducted as a follow up to the incident described above in IRF # 586. [#587]
  • 08.30.20214 - Tampa Fire Rescue (One on Ones - 12, conducted by 3 team members); On August 29, 2024, there was a suicide of a HCSO deputy. [#588]
  • 09.02.2024 - Pasco County Emergency Communications Center (One on Ones - 2); Calltaker handled a call with a frantic caller screaming and yelling that a 6 month old baby was gone. The call taker questioned if they had handled this call properly and done everything possible for the child/caller. The call taker was affected by the call and stepped off the floor to discuss the incident. The baby was later pronounced deceased after being a working code enroute to the hospital. [#589]
  • 09.02.2024 - Pasco County Emergency Communications Center (One on Ones - 2); The same call taker as our previous incident took a call for a child drowning. The caller again was frantic and did not respond to the call taker. The call taker questioned if they had handled this call properly and done everything possible for the child/caller. The call taker was affected by the call and stepped off the floor to discuss the incident due to two significant calls in a short period of time. [#590]
  • 08.29.2024 - Tampa Police Department (One on Ones - 6); Tampa Police officers responded to assist HCSO regarding a deputy suicide in his agency vehicle. When officers arrived, the deceased deputy's wife was on scene and had just discovered her husband deceased. [#591]
  • 09.10.2024 - Pasco County Emergency Communications Center (One on One - 1); On September 9, 2024, a female gave birth at 20 weeks, baby was not awake nor breathing. At the time it was discovered, the baby was still inside the amniotic sac. Fire Rescue arrived on scene shortly after and confirmed the baby deceased. The call taker was taking the situation unusually hard due to the circumstances. [#592]

Tampa Bay Regional Critical Incident Team, Inc. (TBRCIT)

2025 Election Process

Governing Body -

The governing body of the Tampa Bay Regional Critical Incident Team consists of the Executive Committee, Agency Liaisons, Specialty Coordinators and two (2) Ex-officio members (Executive Director and Clinical Director).

There are seven (7) elected voting members of the board of directors that make up the Executive Committee. These are: president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and three (3) members-at- large. The Executive Committee performs the duties as prescribed by the bylaws and by the parliamentary authority adopted by the Corporation.

Candidates for the executive committee can be made from any discipline. The three (3) at-large positions represent each of the following disciplines: law enforcement/corrections, fire/EMS, and mental health/clergy/other.

Members of the executive committee serve a two (2) year term (January 2025 – December 2026). Elections are normally held in January at the annual meeting.

Candidate Eligibility -

A member is eligible for office after serving as an active member in good standing (refer to the current Bylaws (Amended May 13, 2020) Article III, Sections 4 and 5 for definition) for two (2) consecutive years prior to the elections. A candidate for president must have served the previous two (2) years as a member of the executive committee. A candidate for vice president must have served the previous two (2) years as a member of the board of directors.

Eligibility to Vote for Officers -

Members are eligible to vote in an election if they are considered a member in good standing as outlined in the current Bylaws (Amended May 13, 2020), Article III, Section 3 at least one (1) year prior to the elections.

  • All 2024 General Meetings will be held at the HCSO Falkenburg Road Jail Administration Building, Assembly Room located at 520 N. Falkenburg Rd., Tampa 33619 unless otherwise advised. Board meetings will continue via Zoom Video Conference.
